Venue: Slow River Studio, Topsfield, MA October is a time of year when the foliage can create vibrant beautiful colors, but also soft muted browns and grays as our New England weather gets ready for winter. It's a great time to landscape paint! This two day workshop with Amy Brnger will focus on finding major shapes in landscape composition, ignoring unnecessary details, using your brush energy to reflect the changing landscape and light, and exploring the possibilities of color using a split primary palette. Weather permitting, we will work outdoors, using the late October landscapes near beautiful Topsfield, Massachusetts. If the weather does not cooperate, we will work in the studio on our own landscape images. Amy will demonstrate a painting each day, using a limited palette. Demos will be conducted in oil, but participants may use oil or acrylic for painting. Pastel and dry mediums are also welcome. Concepts Covered During This Workshop: Day One: Major Shapes and Short Session Paintings Day Two: Color Mixing, Light Stability, and Incorporating a Sense of Drama This workshop will cover the fundamentals of painting from landscape. It is also appropriate for more advanced painters who want to expand their practice.
